The Sandman Quesnel offers a generally positive experience, particularly praised for its renovated rooms, friendly staff, and accommodating service. However, recurring issues with housekeeping standards and lobby congestion have been reported. Recent stays have highlighted exceptional staff responsiveness and upgraded accommodations.

Out of all the small towns that I’ve stayed in, the rooms in this Sandman were significantly better than other hotels. The only thing I would suggest is if you like to sleep with the window open you ask for a room on the side of the hotel opposite the highway. The pool, hot tub and fitness room are decent for a small hotel. One more thing - there was a work group that took over the lobby every morning with their team, equipment etc. It made the lobby feel a bit uninviting every morning and restricted others from using the furniture because they had their equipment (work clothes, stuff for the bush) on the ground. If a company has employees staying there and they need somewhere to meet every morning they should be booking a meeting room.

Had a great stay with our hockey team. There was an automation issue that charged my credit card twice but was quickly and easily resolved with the help of GM Brent. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you’re heading through Quesnel.

I like the Sandman, everywhere, in general. In my experience they’re clean, well-maintained, well-organised, and good value, with friendly and helpful staff. They have pet-friendly rooms, which is useful for folks like me who often travel with animal friends. And they tend to have a Denny’s, which is convenient. I like that they’re Canadian owned, and I love that in each of their locations, the art work is photographs of local features, by local artists.

Just want to give a big shout out and thank you to Jessica St Hilaire (front office manager), for upgrading us after we had such a bad experience at a different hotel the night before!! She went above and beyond to giving us a beautiful suite!! She made our working week like a beautiful staycation!! Newly renovated wonderful rooms!! Thank you all, we’ll be back for sure!! ?? ???

We had an unexpected adventure last night and ended up staying at the Sandman Hotel in Quesnel, and I truly can’t say enough good things about this place and their staff. From the moment we arrived, they were incredibly friendly, calm, and accommodating. They went above and beyond to help us — upgrading our room to better accommodate all of our belongings and our dogs, allowing a late checkout until 3:00 p.m. while we sorted out logistics of getting home, and then extending it even further without hesitation when we realized we’d need more time. No questions, no pressure — just genuine care. On top of that, the room was extremely clean, comfortable, and exactly what we needed after a stressful situation. This level of hospitality is rare, and it made a huge difference for us. Huge thank you to the team at Sandman Quesnel — we won’t forget it.

The rooms are fine for a small town highway hotel. Staff are pleasant but housekeeping is bad. Someone else’s earplug was on the carpet throughout my recent stay. Despite registering for daily cleaning at check in AND hanging the door card on the door by the required time, housekeeping staff at this hotel consistently manage to skip cleaning the room at least once during every stay. Apparently hotel management have no system to confirm that rooms requiring cleaning have actually been cleaned or maybe they condone this as a way of reducing labour costs. It’s a shame as the Sandman would be a decent basic travel hotel if it wasn’t for the housekeeping (or lack of). Staff need to pick their game up and take some pride int heir work and management need to actively confirm that rooms have been properly cleaned. Skipped room cleaning has happened to me on multiple stays and has always been reported to front desk staff - management is aware and the problem has not resolved. Most times desk staff offer a tepid apology and clean towels. To give credit where its due, once several months ago the front desk lady on shift did come to the room to take the garbage and refresh the towels after housekeeping again conveniently skipped cleaning the room that day. In response to the manager’s commitment to review these issues with staff and do better, it may help in doing so to know that we confirmed at check in that we wanted the room cleaned every day and the front desk employee confirmed that she would enter that into the system. While that should be enough, we always made sure the door card was hung out before 10 am as well. This is both a systems and personnel problem, and if you want to improve your reviews both need to be addressed. I hope the team does better in the future, as our experience reflects laziness and apathy by the cleaners and by on-site management who should be physically confirming that work is done before cleaners leave for the day.

Well I have to say that this Sandman is wonderful. The renovated hotel is really well done. The rooms are 1st rate. 5 star in my books! Thoughtfully stocked with everything you need. The beds and bedding are sooo comfy. The bathroom has a 10x mirror for makeup too. The lobby has a homey feel with a fireplace and comfy couches. The staff are simply the best. Everyone says goodmorning and really cares about making your stay just perfect. Thank you to all of you :) ?

This was EXACTLY what we needed on our long trip. Rooms were spacious and inviting. They really go the extra lengths with the living space here. We had just gotten off the road for the first time in days and this place was such a breath of fresh air. Showers were incredible. Everything is incredibly clean and well stocked, and you even get to treat yourself to a nice pancake breakfast in the morning. I don't stay in Hotels often, and Brandon at the front desk made the check in process a breeze. Very polite, professional young man, and it was obvious that his first priority was making sure that we enjoyed our stay here. Excellent attitudes from all the staff and the entire experience felt like the employees here genuinely care about their guests and have a positive outlook. Quite possibly the best hotel experience I've had. I'll be checking for more of these hotels throughout my journey. Thank you all so much!!!
