The Sandman Quesnel generally receives positive feedback, highlighting cleanliness, a comfortable stay, and accommodating staff, particularly for travelers and those with pets. However, some guests have experienced issues with room maintenance, specifically concerning air conditioning, bed quality, and housekeeping inconsistencies, alongside a noisy lobby environment.

Stopped here for a night on the way to Jasper via the Rocky Mountaineer. Lovely stay, gorgeous community and wonderful staff at the hotel itself. There was a taller young man, dirty blonde who attended to my mother and I’s request regarding the industrial drying machine past 11 pm. He was super kind and helpful. Thank you so much for such a great stay!!!

The air conditioning pushed out warm air directly into a desk, all it did was make the room warmer. It was also SUPER loud, It was like having a construction crew working in the room. We gave up on the AC at around midnight and just opened the window. The highway traffic was quieter than the AC. But we couldn’t close the curtains and the bathroom fan needed to be on. But the bathroom fan automatically turns on a light, so the room was well lit. The bed is old and lumpy, the pillows are hard and stiff. The bathroom is nice and clean, the room itself was nice, lots of sitting options and the plug in options were awesome.

We stayed for 5 nights as we were in Quesnel for a high school mountain bike race. The rooms were nicely updated, it was great to have a mini kitchen, and the location was convenient for our needs. What stood out for me was how accommodating the staff were of ours, and many others staying, needs! Allowing us to store bikes indoors, dry off clothes in a room after an unexpected rain storm that meant kids were covered in mud, offer old rags for bike clean ups etc. I’m sure that having so many kids was mayhem but they took it in stride and with a smile.

I had a great stay at the Sandman Hotel in Quesnel. The hotel and rooms were very clean and well maintained, which made for a really comfortable visit over my three-night stay. One highlight for me was the fitness facility—it actually has weights, which can be surprisingly hard to find in hotel gyms. It made it easy to keep up with my workouts while traveling. The front desk staff were also fantastic. Caden was very friendly and welcoming, and Zaidee truly went above and beyond by filling up my water bottle so I had nice cold water ready for my workout. That level of thoughtfulness really stood out. Overall, a great experience, and I’m already looking forward to coming back—especially to enjoy the pool next time.

Out of all the small towns that I’ve stayed in, the rooms in this Sandman were significantly better than other hotels. The only thing I would suggest is if you like to sleep with the window open you ask for a room on the side of the hotel opposite the highway. The pool, hot tub and fitness room are decent for a small hotel. One more thing - there was a work group that took over the lobby every morning with their team, equipment etc. It made the lobby feel a bit uninviting every morning and restricted others from using the furniture because they had their equipment (work clothes, stuff for the bush) on the ground. If a company has employees staying there and they need somewhere to meet every morning they should be booking a meeting room.

Had a great stay with our hockey team. There was an automation issue that charged my credit card twice but was quickly and easily resolved with the help of GM Brent. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you’re heading through Quesnel.

I like the Sandman, everywhere, in general. In my experience they’re clean, well-maintained, well-organised, and good value, with friendly and helpful staff. They have pet-friendly rooms, which is useful for folks like me who often travel with animal friends. And they tend to have a Denny’s, which is convenient. I like that they’re Canadian owned, and I love that in each of their locations, the art work is photographs of local features, by local artists.

We had an unexpected adventure last night and ended up staying at the Sandman Hotel in Quesnel, and I truly can’t say enough good things about this place and their staff. From the moment we arrived, they were incredibly friendly, calm, and accommodating. They went above and beyond to help us — upgrading our room to better accommodate all of our belongings and our dogs, allowing a late checkout until 3:00 p.m. while we sorted out logistics of getting home, and then extending it even further without hesitation when we realized we’d need more time. No questions, no pressure — just genuine care. On top of that, the room was extremely clean, comfortable, and exactly what we needed after a stressful situation. This level of hospitality is rare, and it made a huge difference for us. Huge thank you to the team at Sandman Quesnel — we won’t forget it.

The rooms are fine for a small town highway hotel. Staff are pleasant but housekeeping is bad. Someone else’s earplug was on the carpet throughout my recent stay. Despite registering for daily cleaning at check in AND hanging the door card on the door by the required time, housekeeping staff at this hotel consistently manage to skip cleaning the room at least once during every stay. Apparently hotel management have no system to confirm that rooms requiring cleaning have actually been cleaned or maybe they condone this as a way of reducing labour costs. It’s a shame as the Sandman would be a decent basic travel hotel if it wasn’t for the housekeeping (or lack of). Staff need to pick their game up and take some pride int heir work and management need to actively confirm that rooms have been properly cleaned. Skipped room cleaning has happened to me on multiple stays and has always been reported to front desk staff - management is aware and the problem has not resolved. Most times desk staff offer a tepid apology and clean towels. To give credit where its due, once several months ago the front desk lady on shift did come to the room to take the garbage and refresh the towels after housekeeping again conveniently skipped cleaning the room that day. In response to the manager’s commitment to review these issues with staff and do better, it may help in doing so to know that we confirmed at check in that we wanted the room cleaned every day and the front desk employee confirmed that she would enter that into the system. While that should be enough, we always made sure the door card was hung out before 10 am as well. This is both a systems and personnel problem, and if you want to improve your reviews both need to be addressed. I hope the team does better in the future, as our experience reflects laziness and apathy by the cleaners and by on-site management who should be physically confirming that work is done before cleaners leave for the day.
