The Sandman Hotel & Suites in Williams Lake receives generally positive reviews, largely due to its friendly and helpful staff, particularly Tracy Roy and Dorian, who consistently go above and beyond to assist guests. While some renovations are ongoing and impacting the property, the location and cleanliness of the rooms are appreciated. However, recent reviews indicate potential issues with dated facilities and limited parking.
Dorian provided me with an excellent reception and experience getting checked in. Very kind, and polite! The room I was provided with had excellent amenities, especially as a solo traveller. The only disappointment for me was that the pool was under renovation. But considering the price I paid, I think I had an excellent experience.
Vanshika did a fabulous job adjusting our room assignment to take my mom’s mobility issues into account. We felt welcomed and appreciated the little gift bag with snacks as we were in town on my mom’s birthday.
Excellent service! Special thanks to Manager Tracy Roy for her warm hospitality and helping us arrange bus parking. The room was clean and quiet. Perfect location with easy access. Highly recommend!
Was a wonderful experience. Checking in was easy, front desk Tracy, was so helpful and kind. We stayed in a renovated room, it was nice and clean, we had enough towels and the beds were super comfy, the pillows were great too! The room was quiet at night and we slept well there.
This place was awful. The parking lot is small, tight and difficult to manage and I’m not even sure where everyone would park if the place were full. Staff were very friendly which was the only redeeming quality. The suites building clearly used to be an apartment building. The door to the room looked like it had been kicked in a couple times and didn’t quite close properly. There was a hot water heater room with a door that didn’t even close. The carpet was literally ripped apart in places, baseboards were all scratched up, electrical plates with holes in them, cracking tile in the kitchen and bathroom. Closets in both rooms had doors that were busted off. Filthy windows. Baseboards in the bathroom looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in weeks and the chair at the desk was crooked and broken. I honestly didn’t want to sit down or touch anything. We were told we were getting a nice balcony room except someone clearly puked on the balcony and it was never cleaned up. Surely did not let my kids go out there. It was disgusting. Pool was closed when we were there which was the main reason why I booked this hotel as it’s the only one in PG with a pool! When we were leaving and I was doing a look over to make sure my kids didn’t forget anything, I saw a pair of socks left from someone else. They’re undergoing renovations and I would STRONGLY advise not to stay there until the suites get done too. It was awful and I can’t believe they charge over $200 for this! The next day I stayed in a nice condo in *Whistler* (off-season) for $165! We hated this Sandman so much that we literally changed our travel plans home and cancelled this hotel because there was no way I was spending $265 (long weekend) to stay in such a crappy hotel again.
I can't comment on the rooms because I didn't actually stay here, but I can comment on the customer service. I did not receive an email comfirmation when I booked online and thought that my booking had not gone through. When I tried again, I could not get a room as the hotel was full. I ended up staying somewhere else but was still charged for my booking at the Sandman (it had gone through, but still no confirmation, no receipt). I called the hotel to explain the situation and spoke to Tracy. She was so helpful and friendly and immediately offered to refund my payment. The issue was quickly resolved to my complete satisfaction. I will stay here on my next visit and will phone to confirm with Tracy!
Clean and nice (currently undergoing various renos). Very good customer service. Unfortunately, the mattresses were softer than a fresh bag of marshmallows.
I travel for work so spend many nights in hotels, but this hotel has a very welcoming vibe. From check in to check out the desk staff Dorian and Tracy were wonderful. They made recommendations and assisted with every step of the check in. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel when staying in Williams Lake!
Check in took half an hour even though I had pre paid and there was no other customers. Common areas smelled bad "due to construction" and was asked for change by a street person milling around the hallways. Noticed a pile of 30 or so mattresses in the lobby and asked if they had had any bedbug issues to require that many mattresses. (Out of curiousity, my room was clean enough) The gentleman at the front desk told me " even if we did, we would never tell you". I won't be staying here again.
Friendly staff, room is very underwhelming and facilities are in disrepair, I wouldn't rate a three but the staff has been good. I would like to change my review the circuit for the fridge slash microwave tripped I couldn't get help sorting it out so I had to rearrange the room and only plug in essentials to the only other circuit to make the fridge work as to not have my food go bad. Poor infrastructure and couldn't find me another option for a room. I would say they should pay you to stay here and not the other way around!!!
